IFFAMPAC Participates In And Speaks At Rural Equity for Africa Workshop

Lusaka-Zambia- IFFAMPAC was invited by Rural Equity for Africa REAF to be a featured speaker and participate in the special workshop focusing on the plight of women refugees in Africa. The workshop was held at the YWCA in Zambia, and amongst the invited guests and speakers were; Mr. Evans Lombe, the IFFAMPAC Africa Representative: Mrs. Siwale, the Executive Director of YWCA-Zambia: Reverend Mulumo from the United Church of Zambia; and Mr. Chela, Coordinator for African Human Action. The workshop was moderated by REAF Executive Director Ms. Laurah Harrison. Amongst the participants were refugee women from the Great Lakes Women Refugees Family Association in Zambia GLWRZ.

The workshop focused on issues confronting refugee women from armed conflicts, and emphasized the importance and need to empower female refugees, gender based violence, legality and meaning of refugee status, development of entrepreneurship skills as a means for survival, and ensuring that refugees are protected from abuse.
